An update on the girls

Since I don't blog half as much as I would like... Here is an update on The Three Little Princesses...

Emily~ We are some six weeks away from the end of school. Seriously it seems like yesterday we were picking out backpacks and here is the end of preschool. We are anticipating KINDERGARTEN. My goodness. It's gonna be awfully hard for her new teacher to hold a candle to Mrs. Sharon! Emily thinks the world of her and is always ready to impress. She does so well in Preschool I can't wait to watch her bloom as the years go on. She is preparing for her dance recital and is ready as ever. She continues to love dance and I don't look forward to it ending and listening to her ask weekly when she gets to dance again. *insert eyeroll here* She is reading a mile a minute and shocked the h*ll outta me when she read the word "patient" last night. Thats a hard word for a four year old!

Elizabeth~ My little mover! She is constantly on the go- unless of course she is playing her Leapster or with her My Little Ponies. She has taken a new interest in talking on the phone and is getting really good about using her words and using big ones at that. Her memory is improving and she loves to tell stories. "Remember that one time, Mommy.......?" She loves to be outside and is quite the tree fort climbing expert. She is my snuggler and has started to wake about 6 am and crawl into bed with us, just to snuggle in and go back to sleep. She is taking such good care of Cecelia its scary. She is little Mommy all the way! She is still dancing and doing gymnastics, though next week is her last week of dance which is going to be super rough on her. She loves to dress up "just like Emily" and dance her little dupa off. Next years recital will most definitely feature two little Laurence girls!

Cecelia~ Oh Cecelia. You're breaking my heart! LOL! The kid is growing by leaps and bounds and is in that fast moving stage. One day she is quiet and still and the next day she is rolling all over and "talking" and scooting. Why? She is eating all her food and so far we haven't found one that doesn't agree with her or that she doesn't like. She's had green beans, applesauce, peas, pears, sweet potatoes, squash, and bananas. We still have to try carrots. I will probably start making food next week, but it won't be too long before she starts eating table food. Time flies! She loves to give Momma kisses now and eats up all the attention her sisters give her. Its so hard to see my baby grow, but its so AWESOME to see all the new things she is learning.

Well....thats the girls in a nutshell. Just wanted to let you all know what they are up to these days. And now that I have blogged twice in one day, I can not feel so guilty the next time I go a week without!

Busy days

With the arrival of spring comes the arrival of our busy days. We have been extraordinarily busy the last few weeks. With the beautiful weather, Jay has been outside everyday prepping, painting, fertilizing, raking, weeding....etc. I get out to help when Cecelia allows, but I hate to say thats not as much as I would like. We have a garage to clean and a house to paint this summer- my guess is I will have to call in reinforcements...Busia, Dziaz? Help!

We've been outside everyday- sometimes most of the day. I have had time to clean out the flower beds and move the woodchips away from the pretty little hostas that are poking out thru the soil. Inside is crazy! I am mid spring cleaning- and I mean cleaning. We are planning on a possible garage sale in May- that is yet to be determined. There will be one this summer for sure. I figure the earlier the better. We've been busy playing with friends, attending our last few dance classes and the last few gymnastics classes before the end of the session. Recital is in THREE WEEKS! Amazing how fast that went by! Emily got to be the example for hair and make up in class last night and was proud as a princess when Miss Angela picked her and sat beautifully still while her make up was applied. Shes a natural already. I guess Jay is right...we're gonna need a new bathroom or six.

Thats about it. Not much of an update. The house is clean and the laundry is a load from being ALL done. Tomorrow I am going to do beds. At least thats the plan. I think a lot of my stress lately comes from the fact that the house is out of order and I am not organized. Slowly but surely, I am getting there. It's like everything else....slow and steady....

What a fun day!

We had the greatest day ever today! It was busy- but fun busy! We started out with a trip to the farm first thing this morning. We met some friends up there and had a great time. The weather was perfect for a day at the farm. We met all the new babies including a calf who had been born moments before we arrived. Aside from a few scrapes and bumps from running, we had a fantastic time!

After the farm, we made it to the gym. I got in a 55 minute work out and the girls got in 55 minutes of fun time with friends in the kids club. I like to do an hour, but I will take what I can get. We made it in the knick of time. From the gym we went home to wake up Daddy. We had lunch and went outside. The girls were playing with new sidewalk chalk and I started to make a teeny dent in the garage. Jay got the Camaro started and we both decided that the car has to go. It's sad and it makes me wanna cry, but we have no use for her anymore and she deseves to be with someone who will drive her like we used to. :(

I almost forgot that today was Tuesday and we had dance. Ooops. We made it with a quickness to Elle's 5pm class with a few minutes to spare. She danced her little heart out and then we walked down to the river to feed the ducks. A sure sign of spring- all the ducks and geese at Dodge Park. We came home, had dinner, cleaned up a bit, read a few stories, watched Biggest Loser and the girls hit the hay. I am following shortly because if at all possible, I wouldn't mind hitting the gym first thing in the morning before school. We'll see how that goes. We still have to finish up our week with Scout journal and some homework before anything else. But....if I get to the gym before school that means I have the time Em is at school to hit Vince and Joes for some fresh produce.....

Until next time....

Dang that feels good

I have been away from the gym for a few days. We had a busy weekend and then the girls have had colds so I spent the last 4 days out. Ugh. I actually felt guilty. I told Jay that no matter what I was going today. And I did. Man, it felt so nice to be back and get a good workout in. I tried a new machine today. A stair stepper and it was AWESOME! I am so proud of myself for trying out new things. I need to get a little braver in the weight training section, but I think I need to work on the plan that I have from the trainer first. I think I will be asking for training sessions for Mother's Day and my birthday.

On a great note! We finally got to get Scout from Emily's class today. Scout is a stuffed dog that travels weekly from home to home with the preschoolers with his (or is it her?) journal for the kids to log what they did for the week with Scout. I am more excited than Emily I think. We are going to try to find a buncha fun stuff to do this week with the dog. As we speak, Scout is tucked in to Cecelia's old bassinett in Emily and Elizabeth's room. That will be his special bed for the week. Lucky dog. I guess we will be scrapping a few journal pages by Monday. :) How fun!

Well, Cecelia is calling, so I am off and running. :) Wouldn't it be cool if I could get up and be at the gym at 4:45 am?? Huh? I wonder if that alarm going off will wake me????????????????

When did this happen

When did my girls get so big? When did they learn that? Why does time go so fast?

It seems like just yesterday we announced our pregnancy with Emily. I remember it very vividly. I made Jay a big sign on the wall in the kitchen that said Welcome Home Daddy on it. We made it almost all the way thru dinner before he noticed it. It was Christmas time so after I confirmed it with the dr, I went to the nearest Hallmark and bought a Cherished Teddy for my mom and picked up a bib for Jay's mom. What an exciting Christmas we had that year. What a beautiful time in our lives....

Fast forward to today. Emily is reading me a book while I nurse #3 and Elizabeth is sitting next to us plugging away on her Leapster. When did this all happen? Emily is going to Kindergarten. Elizabeth is climbing all over the jungle gym at the park. Cecelia is starting cereal. We have three kids! Dear Lord. It hit me today. I am a mom! I have three kids. I am the mom of an almost five year old! It amazes me! I seriously thank God every single day that I get to be at home with my girls and watch them do all the new stuff they are doing. I don't miss a single second of their lives. I love my husband for working as hard as he does to allow me to be able to do it. It's days like today that I realize how good I really do have it. Sure, I don't have a fancy house or a fast car or the newest clothes on the racks, but darn it I live and love every single second! I wouldn't trade that for all the tea in China!

My words to live by

TO MY GROWN UP CHILD
My hands were busy through the day
I didn't have much time to play
The little games you asked me to.
I didn't have much time for you.
I'd wash your clothes, I'd sew and cook
But when you'd bring your picture book
And ask me please to share your play
I'd say "A little later in the day."
I'd tuck you in all safe at night
And hear your prayers, turn out the light,
then tip toe softly to the door....
I'd wish I'd stayed a little more,
For life is short, the years rush past...
A little child grows up so fast.
They are no longer at your side,
their precious secrets to confide.
The picture books are put away,
there are no longer games to play,
No good night kisses, no prayers to hear...
That all belongs to yesteryear.
My hands once busy now are still.
The days are long and hard to fill,
I wish I could go back and do
The little things you asked me to.

We got this in our packet from Kindergarten Round Up. I swear these are my new words to live by. I have this poem posted on my fridge. So, now when you come to my house, it will be messier than usual cause I am having even more fun playing and reading and skipping and walking and singing and coloring and laughing and cuddling and exploring with my girlies.

What a great day!

Mother Nature finally blessed us with a nice warm day. And boy did we take advantage of it! This morning started out with gymnastics. We were supposed to go to the gym right after, but I talked the girls into playing hookey and instead we met up with Busia in Romeo. From there we went to Wolcott farm to check out any new additions this spring. What a fun time we had. I especially had fun laughing at my mother for gagging in the cow barn. What kinda farm girl gags in the cow barn?? We saw the new goats and lambs and piglets and bunnies and ducklings and a brand new baby calf, Lucy, who is less than a week old. After the farm, we went and played at the park for quite sometime and made a quick stop at the ice cream saloon.YUM!

After we dropped Busia off, we headed home. Emily had a good nap and Elle, Cecelia and I did some cleaning around the house. Jay got home from work, we had dinner and then went out for another hour outside. We had a nice walk around the block despite two scraped knees (any guesses who got TWO scraped knees??) We came in for bath and snack and headed to bed. I had cupcakes to make and a house to pick up and a blog to wrote, but now I am off to sleep. I want to get up early and hit the gym in the morning before church and Clara's birthday party. It's gonna be a fun filled busy day for sure.
